Last night we had the neighbors over for a board game and some hang out time.  There was a chance for some snow.  When we said goodnight at 11, there was not a sign of a flurry.

An hour later, we were just settling into bed when Katie came tap, tap, tapping on our door telling us to look outside!

That’s more than 8 inches of snow. In SE Tennessee.  That’s unheard of. Except for the “Blizzard of’93” in which the whole Tennessee Valley shut down for a week.  And we have had nothing of significance since then if that tells you anything.

The hush that falls over the world when the snow falls is amazing.  It’s like the world is holding its breath to see what you are going to do next.

I hear God so clearly standing on the porch.

Your footsteps don’t quite sound the same. You crunch in the soft snow.

It’s so peaceful.  It’s a new magic world out there that brings out the inner child in all of us.  Is it any wonder that kids are so ready to go out and greet the snow day?
